Scheme Details
The Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana (PM-KISAN) is a Central Sector Scheme launched by the Government of India to provide financial assistance to all landholding farmer families across the country.
Objective: To supplement the financial needs of the farmers in procuring various inputs for ensuring proper crop health and appropriate yields, commensurate with the anticipated farm income.
Key Benefits:
- Eligible farmer families receive an income support of ₹6,000 (Six Thousand Rupees) per year.
- The amount is transferred directly to the beneficiaries’ bank accounts in three equal installments of ₹2,000 each, released every four months (April–July, August–November, and December–March).
- The scheme is 100% funded by the Government of India.
Eligibility Criteria:
- The applicant must be a landholder farmer family, which is defined as a family comprising of husband, wife, and minor children who collectively own cultivable land.
- The farmer must possess cultivable land in their name.
Exclusion Criteria (Who is Ineligible?):
- Former and present holders of constitutional posts (e.g., MPs, MLAs).
- All serving or retired officers and employees of Central/State Government Ministries/Offices/Departments and their field units, Central or State PSEs and Autonomous Institutions (excluding Multi-Tasking Staff/Class IV/Group D employees).
- All persons who paid Income Tax in the last assessment year.
- Professionals like Doctors, Engineers, Lawyers, Chartered Accountants, and Architects registered with professional bodies and engaged in practice.
- Retired pensioners with a monthly pension of ₹10,000 or more (excluding the above-mentioned Group D/MTS employees).
How to Apply for PM-KISAN (New Registration)
Applying for the PM-KISAN scheme can be done through the following methods:
1. Online Registration (Self-Registration)
- Visit the Official Website: Go to the official PM-KISAN portal: pmkisan.gov.in.
- Navigate to ‘Farmers Corner’: Click on the “New Farmer Registration” option.
- Enter Details: Select whether you are a ‘Rural’ or ‘Urban’ farmer. Enter your Aadhaar Number, Mobile Number, select your State, and enter the Captcha Code to get the OTP.
- Fill the Registration Form: After OTP verification, fill out the detailed form, providing personal information, Aadhaar-linked bank details, and land records (as per the 7/12 or land documents).
- Upload Documents: Upload a scanned copy of your landholding documents.
- Submit: Review the application and click “Submit”.
2. Offline Registration (Via CSC)
- Farmers can also visit the nearest Common Service Centre (CSC) with all necessary documents to complete the application process with the help of a CSC operator.
Note: The submitted application undergoes verification by State Nodal Officers. Benefits are released only after successful verification.
