Main Objectives:

Key Component: ‘Per Drop More Crop’ (PDMC)

The most relevant component for individual farmers is the ‘Per Drop More Crop’ (PDMC) component, implemented by the Department of Agriculture:

  • Focus: Providing subsidy for installing Micro Irrigation systems (Drip and Sprinkler).
  • Subsidy Limit: Assistance is limited to a maximum of 5 hectares (12.35 acres) per beneficiary.
  • Subsidy Rate (General):
    • Small and Marginal Farmers: Up to 55% subsidy.
    • Other Farmers: Up to 45% subsidy.
    • (Note: State governments often provide additional top-up subsidies, increasing the total benefit significantly.)

How to Apply (General Process)

Since PMKSY is a central scheme, the application process is handled through the respective State Agriculture Departments or dedicated online portals (like MahaDBT in Maharashtra).

  1. Online Portal: Visit the State’s dedicated farmer scheme portal (e.g., mahadbtmahait.gov.in).
  2. Registration: Register as a new applicant using your Aadhaar number and create a profile.
  3. Profile Details: Fill in all mandatory personal details, bank account information (must be Aadhaar-linked), and land records (like 7/12 or land passbook details).
  4. Scheme Selection: Navigate to the Agriculture Schemes section and apply under the “PMKSY – Micro Irrigation” component.
  5. Verification: The application is verified by local agricultural and district authorities.
  6. Installation & Claim: Upon approval/pre-sanction, the farmer purchases and installs the system from an authorized dealer, and then submits the invoice to claim the subsidy, which is transferred via DBT.
