​🎯 Objective of the Scheme

​To promote livestock development entrepreneurship in the country, increase the production of meat, eggs, milk, and wool, and generate employment. To provide financial assistance (loan and subsidy) to small farmers, farmer groups, and companies to start or expand their animal husbandry business.

​💰 Subsidy Amount

  • National Livestock Mission (NLM):
    • ​Provides up to 50% Capital Subsidy under this scheme.
    • ​The subsidy is distributed in two equal installments (e.g., for poultry, goat/sheep, or pig farming units).
    • Loan Limit: Up to ₹50 lakh for Goat/Sheep Units, ₹25 lakh for Poultry, and ₹30 lakh for Pig Farming.
  • Animal Husbandry Infrastructure Development Fund (AHIDF):
    • ​Provides 3% interest subvention on bank loans for dairy processing, meat processing units, and animal feed manufacturing.

  • ​Individual farmers/Entrepreneurs.
  • ​Self Help Groups (SHGs).
  • ​Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs).
  • ​Farmers Co-operative Societies.

​✅ Eligibility Criteria

  • ​The applicant must be an Indian citizen above 18 years of age.
  • ​The applicant must have sufficient land (owned or leased) for the business.
  • ​The applicant must be trained in the animal husbandry business or employ expert personnel.
  • ​A necessary Project Report must be prepared according to the scheme requirements.
  • ​Must be eligible for a bank loan (Bank loan/guarantee is required for the NLM scheme).
  • ​Must possess KYC documents.

​📎 Required Documents

  1. Aadhaar Card, PAN Card (Proof of identity and address).
  2. Bank Passbook Copy (Account details).
  3. Project Report: This report must detail the total cost, expected profit, production, and loan repayment plan of the business.
  4. Land Documents (7/12, 8-A extracts, or Lease/Rent agreement).
  5. Caste Certificate (If required).
  6. Business Experience Certificate or Training Certificate related to animal husbandry.
  7. Photograph (Latest).
  8. Bank Loan Sanction Letter/Letter of Intent (for loan-based schemes).

​💻 Application Process

​Applications for these schemes are primarily submitted online through the central government’s Udyamimitra Portal or the AHIDF Portal.

  1. Visit the Online Portal:
  2. Registration: Register on the portal as a ‘New Applicant’.
  3. Create Profile: Create a Username and Password by filling in the mobile number, Aadhaar number, and other personal details.
  4. Fill the Application: Log in to the portal and select the relevant scheme under NLM or AHIDF in the ‘Scheme’ section.
  5. Upload Information and Documents: Carefully fill in all the information asked in the application, especially the Project Details, and upload the required scanned documents.
  6. Bank Contact: It is crucial to obtain pre-approval for the loan from the concerned bank before or after submitting the application.
  7. Submit Application: Review all details and documents and submit the application.
