The Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY) for the Kharif season 2025 has commenced in the state. This scheme is crucial for providing financial stability to farmers against crop losses caused by natural disasters.
Key Features and Changes of the Scheme:
- Nominal Premium: As per the revised scheme implemented by the Government of Maharashtra, farmers have to pay a nominal insurance premium of only ₹1 (One Rupee). The remaining premium is covered jointly by the State and Central Governments.
- Deadline: The last date to apply for Kharif crop insurance for the 2025 season is July 31, 2025.
- Voluntary Participation: Participation in this scheme is voluntary (optional) for all farmers, including loanee and non-loanee farmers.
- Mandatory Requirements: To avail the benefits of this scheme, it is mandatory for farmers to have an ‘AgriStack Registration Number’ (Farmer ID) and to register their crops under e-Peek Pahani (e-Crop Inspection).
Eligibility Criteria:
- Farmers: All land-holding farmers cultivating notified crops in the notified areas are eligible to participate in the scheme.
- Tenant Farmers: Tenant or leased land farmers can also apply by uploading a registered lease agreement.
How to Apply:
Farmers can apply using any of the following methods:
1. Online Method:
- PMFBY Portal: Visit the official website of the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (pmfby.gov.in).
- Fill out the application form in the ‘Farmer Corner’.
- ‘Aaple Sarkar Seva Kendra’ (CSC) or Bank: Applications can be submitted through the nearest CSC center or the branch of the bank where the farmer holds an account.
2. Offline Method:
- Submit the application at the bank branch where you have an account or at the Taluka Agricultural Officer’s office.

- Aadhaar Card.
- Copy of Bank Passbook.
- 7/12 extract and 8 A (Land Records).
- Crop Sowing Self-declaration form.
- AgriStack Registration Number (Farmer ID).
