This Government Hostel Admission Scheme in Maharashtra is run by the Social Justice and Special Assistance Department and the Higher Education Department. - Income Limit: For hostels under the Social Justice Department, the parents’ annual income should generally not exceed ₹2,00,000/- (or ₹1,00,000/- for certain categories).
Eligibility (General):
- The student must be a resident of Maharashtra.
- The student must belong to a backward class or be Economically Backward (EBC/EWS).
- The student must be enrolled in Class 8 or a higher educational course.
- A minimum of 50% (or 60% in some cases) marks in the previous examination is usually required.
- The parents’ annual income must be within the prescribed limit.
