Benefits of the Kit
The government provides a comprehensive kit worth approximately ₹2,000, which typically includes:
- For the Baby: Baby clothes (jhablas), waterproof diapers, caps, socks, baby soap, body oil, a mosquito net, a small blanket, and a plastic mat.
- For the Mother: Sanitary napkins, bath soap, a towel, and basic hygiene products.
Eligibility Criteria
- The applicant must be a permanent resident of Maharashtra.
- Delivery must take place in a Government Hospital or a registered local self-government medical facility.
- The benefit is generally limited to the first two children.
- Priority is given to families belonging to SC/ST categories and the Below Poverty Line (BPL) group.
Required Documents
To claim the kit, the following documents are necessary:
- Aadhaar Card: Mother’s Aadhaar card (linked to a bank account).
- Address Proof: Ration Card or Domicile Certificate.
- Delivery Certificate: Discharge summary or proof of birth from the government hospital.
- Mamta Card (ANC Card): Record of pregnancy registration and vaccinations.
- Bank Passbook: Copy of the front page of the bank account.
- Income Certificate: Proof of family income (as per current government limits).
How to Apply
- Through Anganwadi: Expectant mothers should register themselves at the nearest Anganwadi Center during pregnancy.
- At the Hospital: Upon delivery in a government facility, the kit is often provided directly through the hospital staff or with the assistance of an ASHA worker.
